TEHRAN -- At least four inmates died and 61 others were injured in a fire at Tehran's Evin prison Saturday night, official news agency IRNA reported on Sunday.

"Following last night's fight between some prisoners of the special ward for theft and financial convictions of Evin prison and the fire breakout in the sewing workshop of this prison ... a significant number of prisoners were saved ... unfortunately, 4 prisoners died and some were injured," according to the report. ANKARA -- Five prosecutors were appointed to investigate an underground coal mine explosion that killed 41 workers in northern Türkiye, the country's Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said Sunday.

RAMALLAH -- A Palestinian man succumbed to the wounds sustained from Israeli soldiers' gunfire in the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan, near the West Bank city of Salfit, Palestinian medics said on Sunday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that Mujahid Dawoud, 30, from the village, succumbed to critical wounds early on Sunday. (Palestine-Israel-Clash)

TEHRAN -- An Iranian commander said on Sunday that Iran has increased the operational range of the Bavar-373 surface-to-air missile defense system to 300 km, Tasnim news agency reported.

The upgrade to the homegrown system was proportional to threats and Iran has tested the system at the new range, Iranian Army's Air Defense Force Commander Alireza Sabahi-Fard said at a military academy in the capital Tehran. (Iran-Missile Range-Bavar-373) Enditem
