Celtics beat Magic, Spurs upset 76ers

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic 126-120 while the San Antonio Spurs upset the Philadelphia 76ers 114-105 in the NBA season on Saturday.

In Orlando, Boston forward Jayson Tatum scored 40 points and guard Derrick White added 27. Terrence Ross led the Magic with 29 points and top draft pick Paolo Banchero added 23.

Both sides tied 111-111 with four minutes and 23 seconds to play. Then Orlando big man Wendell Carter fouled Tatum whose two free throws ignited a 10-2 run that put Boston up for good.

In Philadelphia, Devin Vassell collected 22 points, Keldon Johnson added 21 and Tre Jones made 17 for San Antonio, while Doug McDermott scored four three-pointers on the way to 14 points.

Spurs' top-scoring trio all have less than three years experience in the league, and the frustrated 76ers coach Doc Rivers said after the game his team was "not ready" to win yet.

Spurs' legendary coach Popovich said he was impressed with the young team's performance on the second night of a road back-to-back.

Also on Saturday, the Los Angeles Clippers hold off the Sacramento Kings 111-109, the Dallas Mavericks claimed a 137-96 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, the Indiana Pacers beat the Detroit Pistons 124-115, the Miami Heat saw off the Toronto Raptors 112-109, the Milwaukee Bucks rolled past the Houston Rockets 125-105, the Denver Nuggets outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunders 122-117, and the Cleveland Cavaliers pounded the Chicago Bulls 128-96.
