RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Internacional's Brazilian Serie A title hopes suffered a blow on Sunday when they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Coritiba.
Luciano Castan gave Coritiba the lead with a 24th-minute header into the top-left corner following Jesus Trindade's corner at the Couto Pereira stadium.
But the hosts equalized through Vitao Matos, who nodded home after an Alan Patrick set piece.
The result leaves Internacional second in the 20-team standings with 61 points from 33 games, 10 points behind Palmeiras with five match days remaining in the season.
Elsewhere, Fluminense's remote title hopes evaporated as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Botafogo.
The latter raced to a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Carlos Eduardo and Jeffinho. But a Paulo Henrique Ganso penalty and another goal from in-form left-winger Matheus Martins earned Botafogo a valuable point. Enditem
