LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Jeremi Grant's layup with three seconds left gifted the Portland Trail Blazers a 106-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA on Sunday.

Lakers star LeBron James, who chipped in 31 points, missed a shot at the buzzer.

Damian Lillard scored a game-high 41 points, with 12 coming in the fourth quarter for Portland that cut an eight-point deficit in the final five minutes.

"We had some miscommunications in every quarter of the game. I think the last couple of minutes, once again, we were able to buckle down and show some trust. We were able to get stops and not turn the ball over," said Lillard.

The Lakers hit just six three-pointers on 33 attempts as the shooting problem in their first season under coach Darvin Ham continues.

Elsewhere, reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors defeated the winless Sacramento Kings 130-125, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Washington Wizards 117-107, the Utah Jazz edged the New Orleans Pelicans 122-121, the Minnesota Timberwolves saw off the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-106, and the Phoenix Suns won 112-95 at the Los Angeles Clippers.
