ULAN BATOR, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- More than 60 people were sent to a hospital in the northern Mongolian province of Darkhan-Uul due to a suspected gas poisoning, local media reported Tuesday.

The alleged gas poisoning occurred at a secondary school, called "Oyunii Ireedui," at 11:00 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) on Tuesday, the country's National Police Agency and Health Ministry were cited by the media as saying.

A preliminary investigation said two students of the 12th grade sprayed a type of gas that was likely to be tear gas in the corridor of the school's first floor during a break, it reported.

A total of 58 pupils and six staff members have been treated in a hospital, the reports said, adding that the cause of the incident is still under investigation. Enditem
