During the 40th summit chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the three documents adopted at the meeting included ASEAN Leaders' Statement on the 55th Anniversary of ASEAN, ASEAN Leaders' Vision Statement on ASEAN A.C.T: Addressing Challenges Together, and ASEAN Leaders' Statement on ASEAN Connectivity Post-2025 Agenda. PHNOM PENH -- The 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits kicked off in the capital of Cambodia on Friday, with the main focus on continuing community-building process, post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery, and regional and global security challenges, among others.

TOKYO -- Japan's industry minister on Friday unveiled that the central government and eight major Japanese companies are joining forces to set up a new company to develop next-generation semiconductors amid intensifying international competition.

Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura told a press conference that semiconductors are a key technology which can bring major innovation in the fields of quantum and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as play a role in the digitalization and decarbonization of Japanese society. PHNOM PENH -- The leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed on Friday in principle to admit Timor-Leste as the 11th ASEAN member, according to an ASEAN leaders' statement.

ISLAMABAD -- China came forward with timely support for Pakistan in fighting recent disasters caused by devastating floods in the South Asian country, Pakistani Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel said on Thursday.
