MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Five people, all civilians, were injured after a hand-grenade exploded in Mazar-i-Sharif city, capital of northern Balkh province on Tuesday, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri said on Wednesday.
Confirming the accident, the official said that unidentified men threw a hand-grenade at an apartment on Tuesday evening, injuring the five. However, he did not blame any particular group for the incident, nor provide further details.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The injured have been taken to a hospital and security personnel have been tasked to identify the perpetrators and brining them to justice.
Similarly, an explosive device went off in Taluqan city, the capital of northern Takhar province Wednesday morning, but left no casualties, provincial police spokesman Abdul Mubin Safi said. Enditem
