TUNIS, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Tunisia on Wednesday donated a batch of medical supplies to a hospital in Gafsa Province in southern Tunisia.

Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo and the embassy staff visited the Houcine Bouzaienne regional hospital in Gafsa to donate the batch of medical supplies. They also donated some cash for the hospital to purchase urgently needed medical equipment and items.

Gafsa Governor Abdelhalim Hamdi thanked China for its assistance, vowing to further consolidate and develop friendly cooperation with the Chinese side.

Zhang also met with members of the Chinese medical team in Tunisia who are working at the Houcine Bouzaienne regional hospital.

The Chinese ambassador stressed the need to promote medical cooperation between China and Tunisia and welcomed Tunisian health workers to visit and study in China.

He also encouraged the Chinese and Tunisian health workers to exchange their knowledge, experience and skills, adding the Chinese medical team should help to train more local health workers.

The Chinese embassy has made donations to public medical services in the provinces of Jandouba, Tunis and Sidi Bouzid this year. Enditem
