HOUSTON -- Lt. Mariano Pargas, the acting police chief during the May 24 mass school shooting killing 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, U.S. state of Texas, has resigned from the city's police department, Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin said on Thursday.

BAGHDAD -- Four people were killed and some 10 others were wounded on Thursday in a gas tank explosion at a house in Sulaimaniyah province in Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

THE HAGUE, Nov. 17 -- Dutch judges on Thursday sentenced three suspects in absentia to life imprisonment for their involvement in the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 in 2014, which led to the loss of 298 people.

JERUSALEM -- Israel and Jordan signed on Thursday a deal to cooperate in the ecological rehabilitation and sustainable development of the Jordan River, said Israel's Ministry of Environmental Protection.
