ISLAMABAD, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- A soldier was killed in a clash between security forces and terrorists in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a Pakistani army statement said on Tuesday night.

A fire exchange took place between the troops and terrorists in the Sararogar area of the South Waziristan district of the province, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

"Own troops effectively engaged the terrorist's location. During an intense exchange of fire, a 39-year-old soldier lost his life," the ISPR said.

The Pakistani Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and "such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve," the military said. Enditem
