LOS ANGELES -- One person was killed and four others were injured in a Thanksgiving shooting in U.S. Southern California, authorities said on Friday.

Police officers responded to the shooting at approximately 6:45 p.m local time on Thursday, the Thanksgiving Day in the country, in Costa Mesa, a city in Orange County, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department. (U.S.-Shooting)

TEHRAN -- At least one person was killed and two others injured in an explosion in the Bafaq steel complex in central Yazd province in Iran on Friday, official IRNA news agency reported.

According to the Yazd emergency department, one person died at the scene of the incident before the arrival of rescuers. Two injured people were taken to a hospital in Bafaq city. (Iran-Explosion)

ADDIS ABABA -- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) on Friday said it has delivered over 2,400 metric tons of food, medical, nutrition and other lifesaving supplies to Ethiopia's Tigray region following the recent signing of a peace agreement.

The WFP said 96 trucks have transported over 2,400 metric tons of food, which is enough to feed around 170,000 people, as well as 100,000 liters of fuel into Ethiopia's conflict-affected Tigray region since November 15 when WFP resumed operations using all four reopened road corridors. TEHRAN -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has stepped up military presence near the western and northwestern borders of the country to deal with "separatist" threats, an IRGC commander said Friday.

Armored IRGC units and special forces have been deployed "to prevent the infiltration of terrorists affiliated with separatist groups based in northern Iraq and the smuggling of weapons into the country," Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the IRGC Ground Force, was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency.
