SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- South Koreans' overseas plastic card spending grew in the third quarter as the moderated measures against the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in international travel, central bank data showed Tuesday.
Using credit, check and debit cards, domestic residents spent 3.81 billion U.S. dollars overseas in the July-September quarter, up 4.1 percent from the previous quarter, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
It was attributed to the eased measures against the pandemic. The number of outbound travelers jumped to 1,996,000 in the third quarter from 944,000 in the second quarter.
Overseas spending through credit and check cards gained 4.0 percent and 4.7 percent each, but debit card use declined 4.4 percent in the third quarter. Enditem
