DOHA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- England captain Harry Kane sent his 'best wishes' to Brazilian football legend Pele and his family on Saturday.

It has been reported that the 82-year-old, who many consider to be the greatest footballer, has been placed in 'end-of-life care' after failing to respond to cancer treatment.

"First and foremost, we send our best wishes to him and his family as well," said Kane.

When asked about what Pele had meant to him personally, Kane responded that Pele had given him the advice to never stop trying to learn and to never believe he was the best player in the world.

"We are very sad to hear news of him being ill, but we wish him well," said Kane.

Kane said Pele was "an inspiration among our game."

"He's an incredible footballer and an incredible person. To hear those words back then from him was special to me. I always feel like I'm learning and he was spot on with his advice," Kane said. Enditem
