ISLAMABAD, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- A policeman was killed and another injured on Tuesday in two separate terrorist attacks in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, police told media.

One policeman was killed when the militants attacked a police post late at night in Mandan area in Bannu district of the province, police said. During an exchange of fire the police constable lost his life.

In another development, a policeman was injured after the militants attacked a security forces vehicle in the afternoon in Dera Ismail Khan district, police said.

A search and strike operation was carried out in the area following the attack, according to the police.

There has been a significant surge recently in terrorist attacks, mainly targeting the security and law enforcement agencies, in some parts of Pakistan, especially in KP province after the militant outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan called off a ceasefire with the government last week. Enditem
