FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- The Afghan counter-narcotics police destroyed a drug processing lab and arrested two persons on the charge of involvement in the drug business in Afghanistan's northern Badakhsahn province on Wednesday, reported the state-run Bakhtar news agency (BNA) on Thursday.

SAN FRANCISCO -- A heavy winter storm hit the U.S. San Francisco Bay Area with strong winds and downpours throughout Wednesday, killing at least two people and injuring several others, officials said.

A 19-year-old woman died in Fairfield in the early hours of the storm when her car crashed into a utility pole. In the town of Occidental, Sonoma County, a baby died when winds knocked a tree into a mobile home in the afternoon. The other three people in the house were injured. (U.S.-Storm-Casualties)

LAGOS -- Eighteen people were killed Wednesday following a head-on collision between a bus and a trailer on a busy road in Nigeria's northeastern state of Bauchi, a local official said Thursday.

A total of 21 people were involved in the deadly road accident Wednesday evening near the Nabardo village in the Toro local government area of the state, with three people inside the trailer escaping unhurt, said Yusuf Abdullahi, commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi State, at a press briefing.
