AMSTERDAM, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch celebrated the National Tulip Day on Saturday, which is traditionally marked on the third Saturday of the year.

Organized by the Tulip Promotion Netherlands (TPN), the National Tulip Day marks the beginning of a new tulip season.

A highlight of the festival is for people to pick tulips for free in a huge picking garden with more than 200,000 tulips.

This year the picking garden is set on the Museum Square in Amsterdam, where a fire show and a live band performance were staged.

The picking garden is open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time to pick tulips for free.

This year marks the 10th year that the National Tulip Day is held. Enditem
