Sri Lanka's bureau of foreign employment gives 8.2 million USD to treasury

COLOMBO, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said on Monday that he handed over 3 billion rupees (8.2 million U.S. dollars) earned last year by the Bureau of Foreign Employment to the treasury.

The money will be utilized to fund fuel, medical and other welfare bills, and out of the sum, 100 million rupees (about 275,000 dollars) will be given to the cancer hospital, said the minister.

The Bureau of Foreign Employment makes revenues from registration fees from Sri Lankan foreign workers.
