TOKYO -- Three foreign tourists were rescued after being caught in an avalanche on Sunday at a ski resort in Otari village of Japan's Nagano prefecture, local media reported.

The accident took place at around 2:30 p.m. local time (0530 GMT) in the backcountry area outside the course of Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort, on a slope eastside of Mount Norikura at an altitude of more than 2,100 meters. (Japan-Avalanche-Rescue)

LONDON -- British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday fired chair of the ruling Conservative Party Nadhim Zahawi from the government after an investigation into his tax affairs found "a serious breach" of the ministerial code.

Zahawi, who last year was briefly Britain's chancellor of the exchequer, or finance minister, during a period of political turmoil, had been under increasing pressure to resign in recent weeks amid allegations that he settled a multimillion-dollar unpaid tax bill with the authorities. ISLAMABAD -- At least 40 people were killed and four others injured after a passenger bus fell on Sunday morning in a ditch in the Lasbela district of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, government authorities said.

According to the reports, the coach crashed into the pillar of a bridge while it was taking a U-turn near the Chinki stop in Bela area of the district and eventually fell into a ravine and caught fire. (Pakistan-Bus-Accident)

TEHRAN -- At least three people were killed and 816 injured in a 5.9-magnitude earthquake that jolted West Azarbaijan Province in northwestern Iran on Saturday night, the province's governor said Sunday.
