TOKYO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Japan's industrial output fell in last December from a month earlier, the government said in a report on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, industrial output in December declined 0.1 percent from the previous month, with the seasonally adjusted index of output at factories and mines standing at 95.4 against the base of 100 for 2015.

The figure for December follows an upwardly revised 0.2 percent increase logged in November, the ministry's data showed.

The ministry's data set also showed the index of industrial shipments dropped 0.7 percent to 92.7, while inventories were down 0.5 percent to 103.1 in the recording period.

Industrial output for 2022, meanwhile, edged down 0.1 percent from the previous year to 95.6, marking the first decline in two years, the ministry also said.

The ministry's survey revealed that looking ahead, manufacturers polled expect industrial output here to remain unchanged in January and climb 4.1 percent in February. Enditem
