JAKARTA, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian police's anti-terror squad arrested on Tuesday a suspected terrorist identified as AF, 33 years old, in the country's Lampung province.

"We arrested him at dawn on Tuesday at his house and confiscated several things that are allegedly related to his terrorism acts," Indonesian Police's spokesman Ahmad Ramadhan told reporters in Jakarta.

Ramadhan said the suspect was affiliated with the homegrown extremist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), which is linked to the armed terror group Islamic State.

The JI was behind the 2002 Bali bombings, which killed more than 200 people on the resort island.

Since early 2023, the Indonesian Police have intensified preventive and law enforcement measures to fight against possible terrorist acts in the country, the police said.

On January 22, the anti-terror squad arrested a suspected terrorist, who was allegedly a follower of the Islamic State, in Yogyakarta province.

On January 20, the authorities arrested three terrorism suspects in North Jakarta, South Jakarta and South Tangerang, respectively. All of them were reported to be allegedly affiliated with the Indonesian Islamic State, a rebel group that aims to make Indonesia an Islamic state. Enditem
