LIMA -- At least seven police officers were killed on Saturday after being ambushed in the jungle area of the valley of the rivers of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro (Vraem), the Peruvian National Police (PNP) said.

"We regret the loss of our police brothers, who were ambushed while moving in a police vehicle in the town of Natividad in the #Vraem. 7 troops died and one police officer survived," the PNP tweeted. (Peru-Ambush-Death)

TOKYO -- Two men were found dead after a fire on Sunday morning burnt down three houses in Tochigi, a Japanese prefecture north of Tokyo, local media reported.

MOGADISHU -- An air raid carried out by troops including those from Somali National Army killed 12 al-Shabab militants in the central region, the allied forces said Sunday.
