BOGOTA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Former Colombia national team boss Hernan Dario Gomez has been named head coach of Junior de Barranquilla, the Colombian top-flight club said on Wednesday.

The 67-year-old replaces Arturo Reyes, who was sacked after the team's 2-1 home defeat to Envigado on Sunday.

"I am here to solve problems as I've done before," Gomez told reporters. "In Barranquilla I feel at home. Taking charge of Junior has been a long-time goal of mine and finally it's materialized."

Gomez has been out of work since leaving Colombia's Atletico Bucaramanga late last year.

His 32-year coaching career has included spells in charge of Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and Honduras national teams.

Junior are currently last in Colombia's 20-team top-flight standings with just one win from seven matches. Enditem
