GABORONE, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Botswana's Department of Wildlife and National Parks has reported lions and buffaloes roaming in the country's resort town of Kasane, in Chobe District, an administrative district in the northern part of Botswana.

The announcement, issued by the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism on Friday, warned the public to be aware of lions and buffaloes that are roaming around A3 and Chilwero road junction.

"The public is therefore advised to be vigilant at all times as these animals pose a danger to human life," said Tuduetso Nkunyane, spokesperson for the ministry.

Kasane, a small town near the borders of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia, is a gateway to Chobe National Park in Botswana and is home to one of the largest game concentrations in Africa known for its vast herds of elephants and lions.

Though the authorities have not cited reasons for the migrations of lions and buffaloes into the resort town, the majority of people in Chobe District have to contend with the harsh realities of human-wildlife conflict on a daily basis.

In January, authorities raised another alarm on elephant sightings in Kweneng District, adjacent to the Botswanan capital of Gaborone. Enditem
