African runners dominate 2023 Los Angeles Marathon

LOS ANGELES, March 19 (Xinhua) -- African runners displayed their dominance in the 2023 Los Angeles Marathon, as Ethiopia's Jemal Yimer and Kenyan's Stacy Ndiwa took victory in the men's and women's races respectively on Sunday.

More than 20,000 runners took to the streets as part of the event.

Yimer completed the 42.16-kilometer course in a time of two hours, 13 minutes and 13.58 seconds, followed by Ethiopia's Yemane Tsegay and Kenya's Barnaba Kipkoech. Ndiwa won the women's division in 2:31:0.24, followed by fellow Kenyan runners Martha Akeno and Grace Kahura.

The 38th edition of the event started at Dodgers Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles, before passing through some iconic neighborhoods in Los Angeles, including Chinatown, Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and finishing on the Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Enditem
