UNITED NATIONS -- Two communities, whose fighting over rights in a disputed region between Sudan and South Sudan, have reached a peace accord under the auspices of the United Nations, a UN spokesman said on Friday.

The accord was reached between the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya communities, who fought over land ownership and access to water and grazing areas for decades, said Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. (UN-Abyei-Peace)

TUNIS -- Thirty-four migrants were found missing on Friday after a boat sank off Tunisia's southeastern coast, according to a judicial official from the Sfax province.

The boat, carrying 38 migrants from sub-Saharan countries, left the province on Thursday heading for the European coast, spokesman of Sfax's Court of First Instance Faouzi Masmoudi said in a tweet.

Four migrants have been rescued, and the search for the missing is still underway, Masmoudi noted. (Tunisia-Illegal Migrants)

UNITED NATIONS -- The United Nations and its partners continue to provide aid to Türkiye and Syria in the aftermath of last month's earthquakes, said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Friday.

To date, UN agencies and humanitarian partners have reached nearly 535,000 people with shelter support. Approximately 1.4 million people have received water, sanitation and hygiene support, and about 47,000 people have been provided with health services, said OCHA. (UN-Türkiye-Syria-Aid)

TEHRAN -- The number of injured people in a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that jolted northwestern Iran on Friday morning rose to 165, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported.

The quake, which occurred near Khoy County in the province of West Azarbaijan at 6:46 a.m. local time (0316 GMT), has a depth of 8 km, according to the Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC). (Iran-Earthquake-Injuries) Enditem
