YANGON, March 25 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) will hold the FIFA-MFF U15 Youth League 2023, which will last six months.

"We are organizing the tournament in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the township football federations," U Ko Ko Thein, general secretary of the federation, told Xinhua on Saturday.

The tournament will be held under the guidance of FIFA, the federation said, adding that they will provide cash assistance of 10 million kyats (around 4,761 U.S. dollars) to each team.

A total of 24 U-15 football teams across the Southeast Asian country will compete in the youth league, and the games are scheduled to be held on weekends, the federation said.

The 24 teams will be equally split between the upper Myanmar zone and the lower Myanmar zone, according to the federation.

The upper zone will witness three teams from Shan State, two teams each from Mandalay Region and Sagaing Region, and one team each from Magway Region, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Chin State, Kayah State and Kachin State.

The lower zone will contain three teams from Yangon Region, two teams each from Bago Region and Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State, and one team each from Tanintharyi Region, Rakhine State and Kayin State.

The first leg matches of the tournament are set to be held in the first week of May this year, according to the federation. Enditem
