U.S. dollar climbs as yen dips

NEW YORK, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Wednesday, amid weakness in the Japanese yen.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, rose 0.21 percent to 102.6478.

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0843 U.S. dollars from 1.0842 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2314 U.S. dollars from 1.2336 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 132.67 Japanese yen, higher than 130.79 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9190 Swiss francs from 0.9193 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3570 Canadian dollars from 1.3603 Canadian dollars.
