ISLAMABAD, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani Navy testfired surface-to-air missiles for a newly acquired short-range air defense system, a military statement said on Thursday.
"Pakistan Navy Ground Based Air Defense units demonstrated combat readiness and warfighting potential through the successful firing of surface-to-air missiles Wednesday night," said the statement.
The navy added that defense units successfully engaged the intended targets and demonstrated real-time professionalism.
"The missile firing through newly acquired Short Range Air Defense System reassured Pakistan Navy formidable defense against any incoming air threat," said the navy.
According to the navy, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi witnessed the missile firing at the forward posts and expressed complete satisfaction with the operational readiness of the Pakistan Navy's defense setup. Enditem
