ST. PETERSBURG, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The apartment in St. Petersburg where famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky lived will be put up for auction with a starting price of 75 million rubles (about 920,000 U.S. dollars), the press service of the Russian auction house Litfund reported on Friday.

According to Litfund, this six-room apartment is located on the sixth floor of a building on Kronverksky Avenue, with a living area of 212 square meters. It has a living room with a fireplace, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two balconies, and a back door equipped with a separate elevator. The apartment is currently privately owned.

Gorky lived in this apartment from 1914 to 1917. Many celebrities visited him here, including Vladimir Lenin, Anatoly Lunacharsky, Felix Dzerzhinsky, Alexander Kuprin, and Ivan Bunin.
