LIMA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- World silver medalist Clement Bessaguet of France had a comfortable victory in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event while Jiri Privratsky of the Czech Republic won the men's 50m rifle 3 positions as the ISSF World Cup concluded in Lima, Peru on Monday.

Although finishing Monday's matches empty-handed, China still top the medal tally with four gold, three silver and three bronze medals, followed by Hungary and Serbia with two golds apiece.

China's two-time Olympic bronze medalist Li Yuehong led the qualification with 589 points, two ahead of Bessaguet. Two other Chinese shooters Zhang Fusheng and Duan Zhicheng made it to the ranking match, but were in the same bracket with Li, and neither of them was able to beat their more seasoned teammate or Matej Rampula of the Czech Republic.

European champion Bessaguet came on top from the other group of ranking match, followed by Ruslan Lunev of Azerbaijan.

In the medal match, Rampula had a dream start with three perfect series, but missed four of the following five targets and conceded his lead to Bessaguet, who didn't even have to complete the final series to secure his gold with 32 hits, two more than Rampula. Lunev pushed Li to the fourth place and took the bronze for his country.

In the 50m rifle 3 positions event, Istvan Peni of Hungary was the better one in the qualification and the ranking match, but Privratsky turned the fortune around in the gold medal match, winning eight points in a row for a 16-10 victory. European champion Petr Nymbursky of the Czech Republic took the bronze.

Although ranked only 42nd in the qualification, the appearance of Sydney Olympic champion Rajmond Debevec of Slovenia, at the age of 60, was inspiring enough for athletes and fans.

The ISSF World Cup will next move to Baku, Azerbaijan on May 8-15. Enditem
