KAMPONG SPEU, Cambodia, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Tuesday renewed calls for consumers to boycott bushmeat in order to protect wild animals and natural resources.

"We are on the way to achieving Zero Snaring, therefore we urged everyone to stop wild meat consumption and jointly conserve Cambodia's natural resources," Ministry of Environment's Secretary of State Neth Pheaktra said during the launch of the Zero-Snaring Campaign phase-2 in southwest Kampong Speu province.

Sony Oum, Conservation International-Cambodia country director, said the use of snares is a very serious threat to wildlife in Cambodia, especially in the Cardamom mountains landscape where countless animals are killed every year.

"As individuals, we can make a difference by raising awareness about the impact of snares on wildlife, being anti-bushmeat, supporting conservation efforts, and advocating for stricter law enforcement against wildlife trafficking," he said.
