HOUSTON -- The death toll of gun violence reached new high in south central U.S. state of Texas, where state lawmakers have kept weakening gun regulations in the past three decades, The Texas Tribune reported on Wednesday.

There were 15 deaths by firearms per 100,000 people in Texas in 2021, a 50 percent jump from 1999 when there were on average 10 deaths by firearms per 100,000 people, said the report, citing data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (US-Shooting)

GAZA -- At least 21 Palestinians were killed and 64 were injured in the continuing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, said the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza on Wednesday.

Ashraf Al-Qedra, the ministry's spokesman in Gaza, said in a press statement sent to reporters that 21 Palestinians were killed, including 12 civilians, and 64 others were injured by the shrapnel of the Israeli missiles. (Gaza-Israel-Airstrike)

MOSCOW -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his counterparts from Iran, Syria, and Türkiye in Moscow, where they proposed to assemble a roadmap normalizing relations between Türkiye and Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

The four sides agreed to appoint their deputy foreign ministers to prepare the roadmap, aiming to advance relations between Türkiye and Syria. The diplomats would be working with the defense ministries and special services of the four countries. (Russia-Iran-Syria-Türkiye)

TUNIS -- Tunisian President Kais Saied assured Wednesday that Tunisia will remain safe after Tuesday's synagogue shooting that killed at least five.

"I want to reassure the Tunisian people and the whole world that Tunisia will remain safe despite this type of attempt intended to disturb its stability," Saied said in a statement.
