THE HAGUE, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Feyenoord won the Dutch league title for the 16th time in history with a 3-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday in Rotterdam.

Thanks to the win, Feyenoord came to 79 points from 32 of the 34 match rounds in the Eredivisie, the top flight in the Netherlands, and can no longer be overtaken by No. 2 PSV, which will play against Fortuna Sittard later on Sunday.

Oussama Idrissi and Santiago Gimenez quickly took the tension away from the 50,000 spectators in De Kuip stadium with early goals. Igor Paixao added a third goal in the second half on 3-0.

Earlier on Sunday, the Eredivisie match FC Groningen-Ajax was stopped in the ninth minute after fireworks were thrown on the field for the second time. According to new rules of the Dutch football association KNVB, matches have to be suspended after objects are thrown on the field and must be stopped definitely when it happens twice. Enditem
