DHAKA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- The International Chinese Language Day photography contest awards ceremony was held at North South University (NSU) in Dhaka recently, a total of 15 contestants won the prize.
Themed "Chinese Language: Facilitating Dialogues across Civilization," the contest aimed to inspire Bangladeshi young students to explore and understand the Chinese language and culture.
During the one-month submission period, the organizers said they received over 300 photography works that encompassed various Chinese elements, including landscapes, cuisine, festivals, and daily life.
Delivering a speech, counselor from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Yue Liwen hoped that students will maintain an exploratory spirit towards diverse cultures and become promoters and contributors to China-Bangladesh friendship. He also encouraged students to study Chinese well and connect it with their future career development.
M. Ismail Hossain, pro-vice-chancellor of North South University, also expressed gratitude for China's investment and assistance in Bangladesh and hoped to further strengthen humanistic cooperation with China through the Confucius Institute as a platform.
The photography contest was held by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, the Confucius Institute of NSU, and the Art and Photography Club of NSU, which is one of the series of International Chinese Language Day activities organized by the three Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in Bangladesh. Enditem
