MAIDAN SHAR, Afghanistan, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have discovered and seized 62 pieces of weapons in Afghanistan's eastern Wardak province over the past six months, reported the state-run Bakhtar news agency on Sunday.

These light and heavy weapons, including AK-47, PK machine guns and rocket launchers, were rounded up during search operations in different districts of the province and handed over to authorities on Sunday.

Similarly, the Afghan security forces discovered and seized 110 pieces of weapons across Nangarhar province over the past year and detained eight people on charge of keeping arms and ammunition illegally, provincial police spokesman Hajji Raes Zabuli said Thursday.

Afghan caretaker government has vowed to collect arms and ammunition from anyone living outside security organs. Enditem
