TALUQAN, Afghanistan, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have arrested 110 people on charge of involvement in criminal activities in Afghanistan's northern Takhar Province over the past month, provincial police spokesman Abdul Mobin Safi said on Tuesday.

The arrested people were involved in illegal activities such as robbery, mobile snatching, forgery, theft, and drug smuggling, Safi said, adding that further investigations were underway.

The move was part of the Afghan caretaker government's efforts to crack down on criminal elements to ensure law and order in the country.

In a similar crackdown last week, police arrested eight alleged criminals in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. Enditem
