Almiron, Enciso lead Paraguay squad for Nicaragua friendly

ASUNCION, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron and Brighton forward Julio Enciso have been included in Paraguay's squad for an upcoming friendlies against Nicaragua, the South American country's football association said on Friday.

Head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto also included CSKA Moscow midfielder Jesus Medina, FC Krasnodar defender Junior Alonso and Real Salt Lake midfielder Alvaro Campuzano.

But there was no place for Torino forward Antonio Sanabria despite an impressive Serie A campaign in which he scored 12 times and provided four assists.

The fixture will be played at Defensores del Chaco stadium in Paraguayan capital Asuncion on June 18.

It will be the last chance for Schelotto to assess his squad before the start of the South American zone's 2026 Word Cup qualifiers in September.
