HONG KONG, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of China's women's volleyball team, Cai Bin, said on Monday that his team still has significant room for improvement as they prepare for the upcoming second-week matches of the FIVB Women's Nations League in Hong Kong.
China concluded the first week of the VNL with four wins in as many matches, establishing themselves as one of the three unbeaten teams. However, despite their outstanding performance, Cai remains modest.
"After the winter training session, we made some changes to the starting line-up. We are currently in a phase of progress and have ample room for improvement," Cai emphasized.
The competition in Hong Kong will feature eight teams and will take place from June 13 to 18. China's next match is against Canada at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Tuesday night, followed by matches against Bulgaria, Poland, and Italy.
"We will approach each opponent with seriousness and deliver an impressive performance for the Hong Kong citizens. Every team is formidable, and the outcome will depend on the intricacies on the court," said Cai.
"Currently, it is more crucial to maintain a stable squad. However, if circumstances permit, we will consider fielding some young players," he added.
China's captain, Yuan Xinyue, expressed delight in returning to Hong Kong for the VNL and expressed her desire to share the passion with the fans.
"It has been years since we last played here, but I noticed that the atmosphere remains unchanged. Despite the changes in our team, I am excited to take another step forward and showcase our charisma," said Yuan. Enditem
