Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC signs Portuguese coach Traquil

KAMPALA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC), one of Uganda's top Premier League teams has signed a new coach from Portugal, a club official said Monday

Anisha Shahir Muhoozi, the Club Chief Executive Officer announced that Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil is the new head coach of the men's senior team on a two-year contract.

The Portuguese born coach is expected to start work on July 1st, 2023.

He takes over from Jackson Mayanja who was in charge of the team on an interim basis since April this year.

"We are happy to sign a new experienced coach who has handled several teams in Africa. He is a successful coach who has worked at the highest levels and most importantly he conforms to the club's DNA of playing beautiful football and youth development," Muhoozi said.

Traguil started his coaching career at Benfica in Portugal, where he was in charge of the club's youth teams. He also handled other teams like Kaduna (Nigeria), Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Singida Big Stars (Tanzania), CD Lunda Sol (Angola) among others.

KCCA FC who finished second behind Vipers SC in the just concluded Uganda Premier League will represent the country in the 2023/2023 CAF Confederation Cup. Enditem
