VIENTIANE, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Dengue cases in Laos have risen to 4,095 since January 2023, according to data released by the Lao Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
A report issued by the Center of Information and Education for Health under the Lao Ministry of Health on Tuesday said the country reported 67 new cases of dengue fever, bringing the total number of infections to 4,095.
The highest number of dengue patients was reported in Oudomxay province with 807 cases, said the report.
A total of 638 cases were reported in Khammuan province, while 375 cases were reported in Xayaboury province, and 359 cases were reported in Lao capital Vientiane.
Lao Ministry of Health urged people countrywide to remain vigilant, especially during rainy seasons, when dengue-spreading mosquitoes grow in number due to stagnant water accumulation in the surroundings.
People are asked to clear potential mosquito breeding sites around their homes and workplaces to curb the spread of dengue fever.
Lao health ministry urged government administration bodies at all levels to participate in dengue prevention activities, according to the report. Enditem
