MONTEVIDEO, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar scored twice as Uruguay cruised to a 4-1 home win over Nicaragua in their friendly here on Wednesday.
The hosts went ahead in the eighth minute through Matias Arezo, who volleyed home after Facundo Pellistri's cut-back from the right side of the 18-yard box.
Arezo missed a penalty shortly after but it mattered little as Rodrigo Zalazar doubled the advantage with a low finish on the counterattack.
Brian Rodriguez and Zalazar added second-half goals for the Celeste before Luis Coronel reduced the deficit in stoppage time.
"Collectively, we were very organized," said Uruguay manager Marcelo Bielsa, who was taking charge of the team for the first time following his appointment in May.
"The team was dynamic, moving the ball around quickly and with intent, although we played better on the flanks than we did through the middle," the Argentine added. Enditem
