JERUSALEM, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Israel's EuroLeague basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv have extended the contract of captain John DiBartolomeo for two more years, the club said in a statement on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old American-Israeli guard arrived in Tel Aviv in 2017 after spells with Spanish club Bahia San Agustin and Maccabi Haifa, where he was crowned MVP of the Israeli Super League.

In six seasons at Maccabi Tel Aviv, DiBartolomeo has won five league championship titles and one state cup.

In the last EuroLeague season, DiBartolomeo took part in all 39 Maccabi games and finished first in the competition's free throw list with 98.2 percent accuracy, alongside a high percentage of 41.7 for three-pointers.

"This club and this country have become my home and I can't imagine being anywhere else," DiBartolomeo said. "Six years ago, when I came to Maccabi, I never thought it would take me where I am now."

Maccabi head coach Oded Katash added that "John is an enormous asset and leader for Maccabi. He always thinks about what's best for the team and lacks ego." Enditem
