RIO DE JANEIRO, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Vasco da Gama have sacked manager Mauricio Barbieri following a run of 10 league games without victory, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Friday.
The announcement came a day after Vasco suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Goias, the Rio outfit's sixth straight top-flight defeat.
Barbieri guided the club to nine wins, four draws and 11 defeats after taking charge last December.
Vasco's under-20 manager William Batista will take charge of the first team on an interim basis, the club said.
The four-time Brazilian Serie A champions are currently 19th in the 20-team standings with just one victory so far this season. Enditem
