KIGALI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's national carrier RwandAir launched direct flights to France Tuesday, establishing a connection between Kigali, the Rwandan capital, and Paris of France.

The inaugural flight departed from Kigali International Airport at approximately 00:40 a.m. (2200 GMT Monday) and arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 9:30 a.m. local time, on the same day.

"We are excited and proud today to celebrate the start of RwandAir's new three-times-a-week service to Paris from Kigali. We believe this fantastic new route to the French capital will be highly popular among our customers," said Yvonne Makolo, RwandAir's chief executive, ahead of the inaugural flight.

"We look forward to expanding our presence in the French market as we continue to grow our international route network and connect Africa with Europe and other destinations around the world," she added.

RwandAir will operate flights to Paris three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing an Airbus A330 aircraft.

Passengers traveling from Africa to France will now have the option to reach Paris via Kigali in approximately eight hours.

This marks the airline's 25th destination on its route map. Enditem
