KABUL, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Tourists visiting Afghanistan's ancient Bamyan province will be provided with more facilities, the state-owned Bakhtar News Agency reported on Monday.

"Two hotels will be constructed in the Band-e-Amir area, and tourists will be provided with more facilities in the province," the news agency quoted acting Minister of Information and Culture Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa.

The official, according to the media organization, also pledged further attention to maintaining the historical monuments and cultural values of the province.

Nearly 50,000 domestic tourists have reportedly visited the ancient and recreational sites of the central province during the just-concluded Eid holiday from June 28 to July 1.

Scores of foreign tourists, mostly from European countries, have visited historical monuments in Kunduz, Ghor, Herat and Bamyan provinces over the past couple of months, according to Afghan officials. Enditem
