AYBAK, Afghanistan, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Security forces have discovered a cache of explosive objects in north Afghanistan's Faryab province, said a statement of the country's General Directorate of Security (GDI) on Thursday.

According to the statement, the contraband has recently been found in Khawaja Musa district. The security personnel discovered 37 pieces of antipersonnel and anti-tank mines, 12 pieces of rocket shells, nine pieces of mortar mines, and various explosive ordnances.

However, the statement did not say if anyone had been arrested.

The Afghan caretaker government, which has discovered and seized thousands of light and heavy weapons since its induction in August 2021, has vowed to collect arms and ammunition from anyone living outside security organs. Enditem
