Botswana aims for two medals at World University Games

GABORONE, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Botswana has set a goal of winning at least two medals at the upcoming World University Games.

Giving an update on state Radio Botswana in Wednesday morning, Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association (BOTESSA) mouthpiece said: "we have asked the athletes to bring us one medal, two will be a bonus from them."

According to BOTESSA, Golekanye Chikani (women's 400m), Phenyo Majama (men's 400m) and Thuto Masasa (men's 100m) are the potential medal winners.

The southern African country has sent a team of 10 athletes to participate in the 31st Summer Universiade, which will be held from July 28 to August 8 in Chengdu, China.

When speaking to Xinhua before departure, team coach Phenyo Semumu said they have prepared intensively for the games and are confident of podium finishes. Enditem
