HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's real GDP growth forecast for 2023 was revised to 4-5 percent from 3.5-5.5 percent in the May round of review, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said on Friday.

According to the Half-yearly Economic Report 2023 released by the HKSAR government, the adjustment was taken into account the actual outturn in the first half of 2023 and various factors. The forecast rates of underlying and headline consumer price inflation for 2023 were revised down to 2-2.4 percent from 2.5-2.9 percent in the May round of review. (Hong Kong-Economic Forecast)

NEW DELHI -- At least six police officers died in a road mishap in India's northern hilly state of Himachal Pradesh on Friday after their vehicle was hit by a large boulder from the top of a hill, confirmed official sources.

The mishap occurred in the state's Chamba district when the policemen were proceeding with patrolling duties. (India-Police-Road Mishap)

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, with both sides pledging to advance bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, is in the city-state for a two-day visit, the first leg of his three-nation tour which also takes him to Malaysia and Cambodia. (Singapore-China-Ties)

HANOI -- Landslides and floods triggered by prolonged heavy rains killed 13 people and injured eight others in the northern region of Vietnam from Aug. 2 to 10, Vietnam's National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said on Friday.

The fatalities were mostly reported in Lai Chau and Yen Bai provinces while the eight injuries were recorded in Lai Chau, Son La and Cao Bang provinces, according to the committee. (Vietnam-Landslides-Deaths) Enditem
