HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced on Wednesday that despite global macro uncertainty and market fragility, its revenue and other income for the first half of 2023 was the second highest reported half-yearly revenue, after the record in H1 2021.

According to the HKEX 2023 Interim Results, its revenue and other income in the first half of 2023 was 10.575 billion HK dollars (about 1.35 billion U.S. dollars), 18 percent higher than a year earlier, and profit attributable to shareholders was 6.312 billion HK dollars, up 31 percent year-on-year. YANGON -- The death toll from the jade mine collapse in northern Myanmar's Kachin State rose to 33 on Wednesday, local police said.

"After three days of rescue operations, 33 bodies have been recovered," a police officer in Hpakant told Xinhua on Wednesday.

The collapse took place at around 3:00 p.m. local time on Sunday at the jade mine near Ma Na Village in Hpakant, the center of Myanmar's jade industry, with over 30 people reported missing. (Myanmar-Jade Mine Collapse-Death Toll)

NEW DELHI -- Heavy rains leading to landslides and floods have wreaked havoc in India's northern hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, while the death toll over the past two days reached 61.

In the past two days, 12 dead bodies have been recovered in the ongoing search and rescue operations after a massive landslide ravaged the Summer Hill area of Shimla, while nine people were still missing. The heavy rain also caused a dam in Kangra district to overflow, raising concerns of flood in low-lying areas.

More than 800 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas to safer places, and nearly 80 people were rescued after they got stuck in flooding waters on difficult terrains. (India-Heavy Rain-Death)

GOHEUNG, South Korea -- Over 1,000 South Korean fishermen in the southern coastal county of Goheung gathered on Wednesday as part of a series of rallies among domestic fishermen to oppose Japan's planned discharge of radioactive wastewater into the ocean.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's industrial confidence hit a 10-month low in July as high costs of living and household debt weakened purchasing power, affecting demand for industrial goods, data showed on Wednesday.

The Thailand Industry Sentiment Index (TISI) fell to 92.3 last month from 94.1 in June as all components of the index declined, including purchase orders, sales, production volume, turnover, and production costs, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). NEW DELHI -- India's Moon Mission-3, or Chandrayaan-3, completed Lunar-bound maneuvers and entered into an orbit of 153 x 163 kilometers as per the plans, confirmed the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Wednesday.
