YANGON, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- An unknown disease has killed some cattle in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Aung Zan Htwe said.

"We received a report from the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department about the deaths of some cattle due to an unknown disease in some villages of Putao township. A field inspection team is going there to check the situation," he told Xinhua on Thursday.

Over 200 cattle have died of unknown disease in Putao township of Kachin state, local media has reported.

"There is no detailed information about the deaths of cattle. We still don't know the exact number. In case of deaths due to disease, vaccination will be conducted according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)," the official added.

If the disease is still unknown after the field examination, a laboratory test will be conducted, he said. Enditem
